Completing Reading Fluency Tasks

Students select 'READING' from the tab at the top of their home screen and any assigned grade level fluency tasks appear on their screen. An important requirement for completing this task is to ensure the microphone is activated. We also have activated the capacity of the computer to verify that the student in ready with ‘Say YES to begin’ which also is spoken. Once the student has said ‘Yes’ the passage appears with a countdown of 3, 2, and 1 and a voice stating Start reading aloud now.

The passage then appears, and the student reads into the computer. At the end of one minute, the passage is removed, and a congratulations screen appears.

Note: The student needs to click on the green √ in the lower right corner to go back to the main reading screen of passages and modules assigned to them.

From the teacher’s view, the following analyses are presented. Note: Teachers may elect to (a) replay the reading (see bottom bar with play button) and (b) manually score the student’s performance (upper right toggle).
